One of the most contentious topics in Burnaby's civic election campaign is city hall's purchase of an SAP computing system that is behind schedule, overbudget, and threatening to become embroiled in a lawsuit. Shawn Hall, the media spokesperson for Telus said his company backed out of the deal in 2006 because of the ever-growing scope of the project.
"We entered into that project believing they were looking for a plain vanilla cone SAP system and it turned out, when we got into it, they were looking for a triple scoop, chocolate fudge waffle cone, with sprinkles and whipped cream on top," Hall told 24 Hours.
