Delta: Municipal halls empty, for now
Just 20 minutes before results are expected to pour in, quiet elevator music and the footsteps of a lone citizen anxious to see the election results are the only things to be heard at Delta municipal hall, though this shouldn’t last for long.
Security personnel and television crews are set-up, bracing for the onslaught of candidates’ friends, family and supporters who will congregate at the hall in the next hour.
David Serry, who ran for mayor in the 2002 municipal election, said that he made sure he was the first to arrive so he could guarantee a good seat for the action.
“Last year I came and I couldn’t even get in the door to see what was happening,” he said. Serry added that although he was excited like always for this election, he thought few candidates offered much in terms of leadership and policy.
