Surrey: Standing pat
Dianne Watts shook up Surrey politics in 2005 when she knocked off incumbent mayor Doug McCallum and demolished the dominant Surrey Electors team. Voters are showing they're happy with the results, with Watts cruising to an easy reelection.
Watts's only challenger for the mayor's chair Murray Weisenberger ran on a $200 budget and is trailing by a 6-1 margin.
Council and school board results show more of the same, with incombent Surrey First councillors and the Surrey Civic Coalition's Bob Bose filling the top eight polsitions. Newcomer Barinder Rasode, a former SCC candidate, is also in the top eight in her Surrey First debut.
Surrey's school board had one open seat with the retirement of social conservative activist Heather Stilwell, Results show all incombent trusteees being returned, with the Surrey Civic Coalition's Laurie Larson joining them in the top six.
