Submitted by Mark Yuen on November 15, 2008 - 8:59pm.
It’s official, Richmond mayor Malcolm Brodie has been re-elected.
Brodie cruised to an early lead and never looked back; finishing with 19,694 votes.
His closest challenger, Ivan Gerlach, was a distant second with 5,307 votes.
The biggest news out of Richmond though is three Halsey-Brandts winning council seats.
Former mayor and MLA Greg Halsey-Brandt returns to the civic seat along with wife Evelina and ex-wife Sue.
Joining them are incumbents Harold Steves, Linda Barnes, Bill McNulty and Derek Dang.
Ken Johnston has also earned a council seat ahead of incumbent Cynthia Chen.
