Langley Township: New boss in town
There’s a new boss in the Township of Langley.
Financial consultant and farmer Rick Green has knocked off long-time incumbent mayor Kurt Alberts after running a campaign focused on accountability and fiscal responsibility.
Green finished the night with 7,842 votes compared to Alberts’ 6,588.
Jordan Bateman, who finished first in voting for the township’s eight council seats, says all eyes will be on the new mayor.
“Rick Green had a specific platform so it’ll be interesting to see how he does,” Bateman said. “I look forward to working with him.”
All the incumbent councillors – Bateman, Steve Ferguson, Charlie Fox, Mel Kositsky, Kim Richter, and Grant Ward – have been re-elected.
Bev Dornan takes over the eight council seat.
