Returning Mayor Joe Trassolini plans to make the Evergreen Line the centre of his next term in office.
"I have one message for Premier Campbell: Build the Evergreen Line now," he said "Don't wait until after the Olympics, build it now."
Trassolini said voters spoke up in demanding traffic congestion issues be addressed immediately.
Trassolini returns for a fourth term making him the longest serving mayor in the Lower Mainland.
"When you've been mayor for nine years you can never please everyone," he said. "But securing 65 per cent of the vote shows I'm doing something right"
Five incumbent councillors were returned to office as well.
