Port Coquitlam: Moore to rebuild city's image
The job of rehabilitating Port Coquitlam's image belongs to Greg Moore.
Moore garnered 5,949 votes to defeat rival Mark Bowen, who tallied 1,473 votes, and take the mayor's seat in the suburban municipality.
Moore campaigned vehemently against disgraced outgoing mayor Scott Young who fell less than 400 votes short of securing a councillor's seat.
"We made the first step tonight," Moore said of municipality putting Young in its rearview mirror.
Young entered rehabilitation after a nasty court case involving his mistress.
"All along when council asked for Young's resignation it was about the community having its say," he said. "Now they've spoken."
Young did not return 24 hours calls for comment.
"We now need to male sure council is working together as a group," he said.
Moore plans to get to work on Port Coquitlam's corporate strategic plan.
Also on his agenda, holding the city's first townhall meetings.
