Maple Ridge: Daykin defeats incumbent Robson
Good lordy, it's Ernie.
Ernie Daykin defeated incumbent Gordy Robson, the self-professed straight talkin' self-made man to capture the mayor's seat in Maple Ridge.
"On difficult issues he was challenging at times," Daykin said of the outgoing mayor who finished in third place.
Daykin said council is positioned well with four councillors returning for another term.
"We can mend some fences and get some good work done in the community," he said.
Daykin plans to tackle the municipality's agricultural land strategy.
Developing the Albion area with mixed industrial commercial space is another priority.
Further development in downtown Maple Ridge should help stamp out the existing crime problem, he said.
"Positive activity will deal with negative activity," he said.
